Dance Your Way to Better Health

Dancing is excellent cardiovascular exercise that uses all of your major muscle groups (burning between 200-500 calories/hour) resulting in the following:
  • Good posture and body alignment, and strengthened core abdominal muscles
  • Increased Flexibility and agility, and gracefulness both on and off the dance floor
  • Increased metabolism and immune system
  • Decreased weight and/or better weight management
  • Decreased back-related issues throughout life
  • Increased self confidence
  • Increased social life
  • Increased endorphin production, which creates a sense of happiness and well being
  • Increased romance with partners
  • Improved mental acuity throughout life and assisted prevention of Alzheimer's disease in senior citizens

 No Partner? No Problem!

Learning the dances without a partner has many advantages. For instance:
  • Dancing by yourself helps you gain your own sense of balance and control.
  • Learning the dances only by using a partner can handicap your progress. For instance, followers tend to end up reliant on the lead to always guide them through. This, in turn, will cause confusion when the partner disconnects during a dance, or if they try to dance with someone else.
  • Others show up without partners, so you may make a new friend or two!
  • You have the opportunity to dance both sides, if you choose. Learning both sides helps to make you a better dancer overall.
