We warmly invite all parents and community members to visit our school. You will find students enthusiastically and actively involved in our Accelerated Reader program. As a volunteer or parent, you will discover our well-organized parent volunteer program. Whitman is proud of its thousands of volunteer hours. Our volunteers and business partners include parents, the Pacific Science Center, Child Guidance, Kiwanis, YMCA, Washington State University Square Foot Nutrition Project, Washington Forest Protection Association, high school students, senior groups and churches. In our classrooms, you will be delighted to find very high standards for behavior and academic performance. All of our students are expected to do their best. Our teachers also work hard to improve their own skills through self-directed learning and various professional development programs. For example, one of our first-grade teachers, and our reading specialist, are National Board Certified Teachers.
