Businesses & Community Partners

Dear Community Partner:

Thank you for your interest in The NEXT Move internship program. SOTA students have been able to gain the real life work experience that is helping them make critical decisions for their future, because of the tremendous support from our community partners. Please know that this opportunity has been truly life changing for many of our students. We are planning now for the 2012 internships for SOTA and now SAMI too, and hope we can include you as an internship host in this powerful program!

The SOTA/SAMI  internship program is designed to help students begin to acquire many of the skills used in their field of interest, and learn how to develop and maintain contacts while working in a professional environment. While learning this occupational expertise, students often gain increased enthusiasm for a possible career, or redirect their future plans. These discoveries have encouraged our students to become more focused on their careers, studies and life after high school.

All SOTA and SAMI juniors and seniors are invited to apply for an internship opportunity. After a rigorous application and interview process, selected candidates are placed with a business or organization related to their field of interest, where they serve as unpaid interns, full-time, for three weeks.

The 2012 internships will run from January 9-26, culminating with our Internship Celebration Breakfast for students and their hosts on Friday, January 27.

Students at SOTA and SAMI are interested of course in art and science, as well as business, and education, and law, and medicine and animals and a wide variety of other fields. We are looking for new hosts in all career fields who want to bring young energy to their workplace and help them make The NEXT Move toward their future. We have an ambitious plan of placing over 100 interns this year. May we include you as one of the 2012 placement sites? It’s easy to sign up:

On behalf of the SOTA/SAMI staff and student body, please accept our sincere gratitude for your partnership. If you would like to discuss this further, please give me a call at (253) 571-7928.

Sincerely,

“TV is one thing, but to see something in real life as it really is; that was an incredible gift that you gave to me… The concepts and skills that I obtained from this could never have been learned in school… Spending three weeks in the company of publishers, editors, graphic designers and sales representatives was not only educationally rewarding, but gave a tangibility to my interests that I’ve never experienced before… learned things that I will remember for the rest of my life!”
