The Lincoln Center: Intelligence Plus Character
The Lincoln Center is a small learning community
that provides a focus on intellectual and emotional development by giving
students the tools for academic success in high school and college, while
working on the character traits that allows them to succeed as citizens and
productive members of the community.
A Community of Scholars
Based on current research on learning, Lincoln Center student scholars attend a longer school day, from 7:20 am to 5:00 pm, and are immersed in a rigorous college-prep program that exposes them to the kinds of thinking and the skills they will need to thrive in college.
Beyond Academics
Students attend a longer school day, from 7:20 am to 5:00 pm, and are immersed in a rigorous college-prep program that exposes them to the kinds of thinking and the skills they will need to thrive in college. The Lincoln Center is designed to reach the whole student by providing cultural activities that widen student horizons. Students visit local universities, attend lectures by visiting scholars and authors, and participate in museum workshops that integrate with classroom work. Partnerships with local organizations provide tutors, mentors, and adult role models and add to the support network that surrounds students.
