Dear Larchmont Families:
The weather is getting colder and very wet. Please encourage your children to dress appropriately for the weather such as warm coats, hats, shoes and socks. We try and have your children go outside, at least once a day, to get fresh air and to run around under the covered area.
The first reporting period has ended and the teachers are busy working on report cards. We will be conducting Partnership Conferencing on November 30th -December 2nd. These three days will be a 12:15 early release for students. Late night conferencing will be offered on December 1st from 4:30-7:00 PM, but remember those time slots fill up fast. Please make sure you schedule a time with your child/children’s’ teacher(s), for this is a crucial time to set goals with your child and the teacher for the rest of the year to ensure academic and social growth and success.
Our student Attendance goal for the 2011-12 school year continues to be 98% or more. Research shows the more school a child misses; the more likely he or she is to fall behind, academically. Although most teachers allow students to make up the work they missed, nothing can make up for losing a valuable day of instruction. Attendance is an extremely important part of your child’s education. Children that
attend classes regularly get the most out of school.
Also, please make sure your child arrives to school on time every day helping to develop a skill which will be important to him or her throughout life? Only by being on time in the classroom every day and participating fully in all of the class activities and instruction, can a student maintain a high scholastic level. Let’s work together for your child’s success.
Please have a warm, safe and enjoyable break.
Sincerely
Cynthia Horner
Principal
