LC Culminating Project

The Lincoln Center's Culminating Project is a way for our seniors to demonstrate their learning over the last four years...

 Students can Choose One of Three Options

 

​All Projects Will:

1. Show understanding of a problem/issue.

2. Involve thought and observation.

3. Join in an research/academic conversation.

4. Involve reading and research.

5. Involve guidance from the outside​.

6. Have a public Demonstration of Learning

6. Represent the interests and passions of the Student.




 

 Option Two: Portfolio of Learning

 

​Description: This is a chance for students to reflect on their years of learning at Lincoln Center.  The heart of the project is a portfolio of learning that shows student progress over time.  

Elements:
  • ​Formal Proposal: states at least two clear objectives/goals that the student will accomplish as a result of completing this project​
  • Personal Academic Narrative a short paper on where student has been 
  • Annotated bibliography (7-10 sources)​
    • ​​Sample annotated bibliography here
  • Process Journal/Field Notes of learning, experience 
  • Written reflection/synthesis of experience and research 
  • Narrative evaluation from mentor​
Demonstrations of Learning Include:    
  • ​Portfolio Binder with evidence of growth in student work over time
  • Video Documentary/Work of Art
  • Published Paper, Article, Work 
  • Other Ideas, Presentations w/ Teacher Permission 

 

 Option One: Individual Field Experience

 

​​Students engage in study in a field of interest based on interest, explorations, and learning throughout the student's career in The Lincoln Center. 

Students engage in off campus Field Work durning the last weeks of school. 

Elements:
Demonstrations of Learning Include:    
  • ​Debate/Speech/Teach a Course
  • Video Documentary/Work of Art
  • Published Paper, Article, Work 
  • Other Ideas, Presentations w/ Teacher Permission 

 

 Option Three: Reasearch Team

 

​​Description: Students work on a team completing authentic research.  This research is on-going throughout the school year.  As a result of this research, students are finding new ideas, conclusions and/or solutions.

Elements:
  • ​Formal Proposal: a true research proposal, includes hypothesis,  summary of issue, variables, units of analysis, research design, and limitations     
  • Annotated bibliography (7-10 sources)​
    • ​Sample annotated bibliography here
  • Written report of results 
  • Written reflection/synthesis of experience and research 
  • Narrative evaluation from mentor​
Demonstrations of Learning Include:    
  • Pres​entation of Findings
  • Debate/Speech/Teach a Course
  • Video Documentary/Work of Art
  • Published Paper, Article
  • Implementation of Findings
  • Other Ideas, Presentations w/ Teacher Permission ​
