About Us

In 1958, H.F. Hunt Junior High was opened in the area known as Highland Hill.  As a result of this, we are known as the Scottish Highlanders and our school mascot is the Scottie.  School colors are green, white and gold.

H.F. Hunt Junior High School was named for Mr. Henry Frank Hunt, teacher, principal and assistant superindentent for Tacoma Public Schools from 1902 until 1937.  Mr. Hunt served as a teacher at Central School, principal of Stadium High School and assistant superintendent from 1928 until the time of his death.  He was known by many as a man who won the friendship and confidence of his students.

This year will present us with new and exciting challenges.  We hope that each of you will dedicate yourself to the fostering of Scottie pride and spirit as a student of the H.F. Hunt community.  You will find success and enjoyment in school equal to the effort you are willing to put forth.

Dr. Mary M. Chapman, Principal

Mr. Brad Westering, Assistant Principal
