Classroom Structure

Since multi-aged classrooms are essential to a Montessori education, our classes are grouped into 4 levels. The Children's House consists of preschoolers, pre-kindergarteners and kindergartners, Lower Elementary is made up of 1st through 3rd graders, Upper Elementary is 4th and 5th graders, and our Middle School consists of 6th, 7th and 8th graders.

This environment facilitates the important teaching opportunity of peer support, allows a student to be known by the same teacher for a number of years, and enables students to learn at their own pace. The average range of students for our Children's House is 25-27, and for all other grades is 27-29. All of our classrooms are taught by Washington State Certificated teachers who are also trained Montessorians.

All of the Children's House and Lower Elementary classrooms have a full time para-educator to help facilitate the one on one attention that students need in a Montessori classroom in order to learn at their own pace.
