Wilson students to participate in disaster drill Nov. 14

Nearly 30 Wilson High School students in Key Club and the National Honor Society will play the victims on Friday, Nov. 14, when they participate in a countywide disaster drill, “Operation Pandemonium,” at St. Joseph’s Medical Center—the only volunteers in the drill at the medical center.

Sherri Bebbington, St. Joseph’s volunteer coordinator, said, “The disaster drill is a great way for students to earn community service hours and help the hospital to practice for a real emergency. It’s also a fun way to role play and test the system. The students also get to see that the hospital staff will be able to take care of them in a real emergency.” She added that when students participate in disaster drills in a hospital setting, it could help them take drills at their school more seriously so they can act correctly and calmly in a real disaster.

Bebbington worked with Joe Raniero, Wilson career counselor, to line up students to participate in the drill. Contact Bebbington at 253.426.6785 for more information.
