The Tacoma Public Schools will launch a new purchase and finance system July 14

The Lawson finance and purchase system went live July 14 for the Tacoma Public Schools. The district team has been working the past year to migrate from the existing Walker system that will be completed in fourth quarter of 2008. The state‑of‑the‑art, Web‑based Lawson system will provide district personnel with real‑time information and notifications, easy‑access information processing and powerful reporting capabilities.

Wilson High School Office Coordinator Tracey Meyer placed the first Lawson requisition at 8 a.m. on July 14, per the project schedule. Tracey has held a pivotal role on the project providing end‑user requirements and experience. It is anticipated that 125 office coordinators and 90 budget responsibilities code (BRC) approvers will be using the Lawson. The Finance, Purchasing and Technology departments will operate and maintain the system.

Training is available for requisitioners at 253.571.3380 and for BRC approvers at 253.571.1187
