District to hold first college and career fair Sept. 29

The first Tacoma School District College and Career Fair will be held on Sept. 29, from 5–8 p.m., at the University of Puget Sound Field House. Admission is free and middle school and high school students are encouraged to attend.

More than 100 college and apprenticeship programs from all over the country, including two-year community and technical colleges, four-year colleges and universities, and employers who offer apprenticeships are expected to participate in the fair.

In addition, there will be workshops on writing the personal statement for college applications and scholarships, completing college applications, using the appeals process if you are denied admission, getting financial aid, and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) eligibility requirements.
