Superintendent to recommend Lynne Rosellini as assistant superintendent of Human Resources

Superintendent Carla Santorno will recommend that the School Board approve hiring Lynne Rosellini as assistant superintendent of Human Resources at the next regular board meeting Aug. 23.

Dan Berryman withdrew his acceptance of the position to take a job at the University of Tennessee.

“I am confident that Lynne is a strong leader and will provide the expertise to have a highly functioning Human Resources department,” Superintendent Carla Santorno said. “She has been a K-12 administrator with extensive experience in schools, and has experience in labor management, employee misconduct issues and supporting school staff.”

Pending board approval, Rosellini would return to Tacoma Public Schools after serving as a chief academic officer for the Puyallup School District since 2008. She served as the executive director of elementary education in Puyallup from 2005-2008.

A graduate of Lincoln High School, Rosellini served in a variety of positions in Tacoma Public Schools from 1975 to 2005 including as a K-9 teacher, Special Education program administrator, director of Title I and Learning Assistance Program, director of program development and directory of elementary education.

“I am so thrilled to be coming ‘home,’” said Rosellini. “I attended Fawcett, Stewart and Lincoln, and I live in Tacoma. I look forward to renewing old friendships and building new relationships to help the students I value so much.”

Rosellini earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in special education from Western Washington State College in 1974, a Master of Arts degree in special education from the University of Oregon in 1980 and her superintendent’s certification from Western Washington University in 2011.
