Bank of America donates school supplies
Bank of America employees Angela Strecker, government banking, and Matt Corey, commercial banking, presented the district with about 50 backpacks filled with school supplies and several boxes with more supplies at the Aug. 28 board meeting. Strecker, president of the Volunteer Network, said that Bank of America employees from a wide area contributed supplies and/or funds to purchase the school supplies. Community members also contributed. The supplies were donated to the Tone Resource Center for homeless students and to the School, Family and Community Partnership Program for the Help-a-Student Fund.

  • Funds to support district improvement efforts required by the federal No Child Left Behind law as a result of the district’s being in step 2 of district improvement. Funding also provides for an external district improvement facilitator to assist in guiding staff members through the process of planning for the restructuring of schools that are in Step 4 of school improvement as well as assisting in updating and revising required district improvement plans.

The next regular meeting will be held Thursday, Sept. 11, at 6 p.m. in the fourth-floor auditorium at the Central Administration Building, 601 S. 8th St., Tacoma.
