The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) has opened nominations for the 2009
Washington State Classified Employee Excellence Award Program. These awards were created by the Legislature in 2007 to recognize and honor the work of school and district classified staff members who have made a positive difference in their profession. Award winners will be honored at a special event at the state Capitol late in the spring.
Nomination forms are posted on the OSPI Web site at the
Classified Employees page. Nominations are due to OSPI by Feb. 20. Administrators, teachers, colleagues, students and parents are invited to visit the OSPI Web site and complete the online nomination form at:

All school and district employees who are categorized as “classified” are eligible for this award. A committee comprised of education professionals, parents and/or members of educational associations will review and rate the applications based on the following criteria:
· Demonstration of outstanding work performance.
· Evidence of how the candidate supports students and colleagues.
· Description of the candidate’s role in a special project or assignment.
· Other unique qualities or circumstances.
