Back by popular demand, the Living Voices Theater Company will perform “The Right to Dream,” a narrative drama at Mount Tahoma High School, Jan. 12, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Mt. Tahoma Booster Club and Associated Student Body (ASB), this performance depicts the struggle and sacrifice for civil rights in America. “The Right to Dream,” a story written by Rachel Atkins, recreates a young man's coming of age as an African American in Mississippi during the 1950s and 1960s.
The program illuminates the issues of civil rights, leading audiences to understand how the fight against prejudice has shaped our history. This is a 45-minute presentation with an additional opportunity for questions and answers following the performance. Parents and community members are invited to attend an evening performance on Jan. 12, 2009, in Mount Tahoma's auditorium beginning at 6:30 p.m.
