McILvaigh's Swan Creek library night a huge success

McIlvaigh Middle School held its fourth annual Swan Creek Library night on Oct. 15. It was timed to coincide with Teen Read Week which is held during the third week in October. The theme this year was “Take a Bite Out of a Good Book.”

Sue Kelley, McIlvaigh librarian, coordinated three sessions of book talks with drawings for prizes. McIlvaigh staff members coordinated with the Tacoma Community House for use of the computer lab to train parents and students to access the new online grading system at McIlvaigh.

Many thanks to the Swan Creek Library staff for their support and welcoming accommodations! McIlvaigh had its largest turnout of families and staff since the event began four years ago--just over 250 attended including students, parents, siblings and staff members. More than 200 items were circulated and more than 20 new library cardholders were signed up. Also, more than 85 library accounts were updated.

Refreshments of Krispy Kreme Donuts and apple cider topped off the very successful celebration.
