Tacoma Council PTA welcomed Dr. Art Jarvis and Kim Golding, Tacoma school board director, at its Oct. 30 general meeting. Golding summarized the upcoming bond issue and answered questions from local PTA members. Dr. Jarvis elaborated on the bond issue as well as entertained various questions and concerns from the group. The Tacoma Council PTA members in attendance unanimously voting to endorse the bond measure.
An added bonus to attending this informative meeting was having the opportunity to win a PTA membership from one of the local dignitaries in a door prize drawing. Foss HS had the most members in attendance and won their dignitary of choice, Dr. Jarvis.

From Washington State PTA, Director Bill Williams (Foss), Advocacy Coordinator Kim Howard (Skyline) and Region 10 Director Lorrie Brunson (Foss). From Tacoma Council PTA, Co-President Patti DeRusha (Baker), Co-President Sue Linden (Baker), VP Janet Stewart (Skyline), Treasurer Saundra Coffen (Foss) and Past President Kris Anderson (Reed).
From local government Mayor Bill Baarsma (Foss) and Deputy Mayor Spiro Manthou (Downing). Tacoma City Council members participating were Jacob Fey (Foss), Marilyn Strickland (Edison & Gray), Rick Talbert (Fawcett) and Mike Lonergan (Baker). State government included Rep. Tami Green 28th District (Baker) and Senator Rosa Franklin 29th District (Foss).
