Tacoma Public Schools and Geiger Montessori School invite parents, community members and staff members to a farewell of the old Geiger school building celebration on Sunday, July 31, from 2 to 5 p.m., at 621 S. Jackson Ave.
This event is an opportunity for Geiger alumni and community members to tour the 1949 school building and relish Geiger’s rich history, share memories and say goodbye. Enjoy punch and cookies and see display plans of the new school design.
On June 2 the School Board voted to continue with construction plans for the current Geiger school building and temporarily move students to the former Hunt Middle School site for the 2011-2012 school year. Geiger students will start the school year on Sept. 1 at 6501 S. 10th St. Bell times for Geiger students will remain the same from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Staff members will be available in the school office Aug. 1–3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., for parents who wish to enroll their child or children at the temporary Geiger Montessori School at 6501 S. 10th St. Visit the Geiger Web site at geigerorcas.org, for more details about the Montessori program, important dates and information or to follow updates on the construction progress.
The farewell celebration will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. at the old Geiger Montessori School site, 621 S. Jackson Ave.
