Gault students to record memories

Shari Shelton's Pen-and-Page and Ashley Miraflor's journalism students are digging deep into the fascinating past of Gault Middle School as it will graduate its last class this June. Gault first opened its doors in 1927, welcoming students who wore ties, long dresses, flapper-esque attire and hairstyles straight out of the movies.

Gault’s rich history is the story of Tacoma and its closure marks a new chapter as well as the end of a wonderful tale spanning years and generations. In celebration of Gault's intriguing history, students are requesting pictures and stories from former Gault students and teachers. Even a short paragraph of a cherished memory will be put to use. Your memories, pictures and stories will be published alongside the stories of current Gault students and included in its closing celebrations and publications.

Alumni interested in submitting writings or being interviewed should contact Shari Shelton at sshelto@tacoma.k12.wa.us or call her at 253.571.1405 at Gault before May 8.
