The Tacoma Public Schools (TPS) is proud to announce First Creek Middle School’s open house celebration on Friday, Oct. 16. Members of the TPS board of directors, Superintendent Art Jarvis and First Creek staff, students, family and friends will gather on Oct. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m., for an open house at First Creek Middle School, located at 1801 E. 56th St., to celebrate the opening of the new school building.
First Creek Middle School was established in 2009 with Delores Beason as its first principal. It is the combination of two middle schools, Gault and McIlvaigh, which were closed in June. The new school on Portland Avenue was built on the campus of McIlvaigh. First Creek Middle School opened Sept. 2 and students took their first steps as First Creek Middle School Eagles on the first day of school.
To commemorate this joyous time, the open house celebration will feature a ceremony filled with school building tours, a parade of nations, a student choir performance, raffle prizes and refreshments. It is a wonderful opportunity to tour the new facility, meet the First Creek family and partake in a celebration. You will not want to miss it!
