Events planned to celebrate Gray's history and new course

Gray Middle School staff members, students and parents have formed a committee to organize special events to celebrate Gray’s rich history and introduce the community to its new school building which will open on Jan. 5, 2009, at 6229 S. Tyler St.

 Alumni to share memories
The Gray Pilots will hold an alumni celebration on Tuesday, Dec. 16, from 6–8 p.m., at old Gray Middle School, 3109 S. 60th St. Gray alumni will be able to tour the old building, share memories and say goodbye. Sam Tooley, current band teacher, is organizing a Gray alumni band that will perform under the direction of Sam Reed, a former Gray band teacher. If any alumni are interested in joining the band for this occasion, contact Tooley at 253.571.1860 or e-mail him at stooley@tacoma.k12.wa.us.

Gray Charts a New Course: Come Celebrate! event
As Gray charts its new course, it will hold a gala event on Friday, Feb. 6, from 6–8 p.m. at the new school—a rollicking musical with a decade-by-decade review of the school’s first 82 years, featuring students, alumni, faculty and friends. This is an event you will not want to miss.

The committee is also looking to create an alumni database and ask alumni to contact the school to be included. If you are interested in volunteering for or sponsoring an event, contact Gray Middle School at 253.571.1860.
