Special Education

Vision:

Excellence in education through honoring the unique gifts and needs of individuals.

Mission:

To provide leadership, support, and direction to assure quality special education services for students by:

  1. maximizing individual and team skills, strengths, resources, and interests;
  2. communicating with staff, students, parents, and our community; encouraging, modeling and facilitating best practices; and
  3. providing information, guidance, and training to ensure federal, state, and local regulatory compliance.

Department Goals:

To provide a comprehensive program of educational and related services designed to maximize each student's development of skills that will enable them to successfully participate within integrated, natural environments in our community.

A special education federal regulation (§300.212 Public Information) requires that the district “must make available to parents of children with disabilities and to the general public all documents relating to the eligibility of the agency under part B of the Act.” Please call (253) 571-1224 to obtain a copy of our most currently available IDEA-B application. ​​​​​​
