The goal of the Instructional Technology Department of Tacoma Public Schools is to create engaging and relevant lessons for teachers and librarians to present and integrate into their curriculum. Our charge is to have all students technologically literate by the time they graduate from the 8th grade. Our team of Instructional Facilitators is working hard to make this happen.

Wes Burmark, Director

The Instructional Technology Department would like to think that we know all the teacher technology leaders in the district but with new staff on board each year it is hard to keep up. Please stop by and introduce yourself to our team. If you have a great lesson plan that you are willing to share with others in the district please let us know. Also, our team would love to visit your classroom. We are willing to teach a lesson, co-teach, or we'll be happy to lend a helping hand.

Andy Coons, Special Projects Facilitator

Technology infused teaching can be a powerful instructional strategy and meaning-making activity for our students. My primary responsibility of overseeing curriculum development for Instructional Technology supports this belief. In addition, I work with new pilot programs to ensure that they promote student learning and am the technology resource for our district's National Board candidates. It is my hope that teachers use our department as a resource as they continually refine what they do best: practicing the art of teaching. We're here to help.
