Student Spotlights highlights the achievements of Native American Students throughout the Tacoma School District.
The Western Washington Native American Consortium has selected selected Samantha Chambers to receive a Merit Award in the amount of $565.00 (the number of Federally recognized tribes). The Award is to assist her in her first year of college.
Andrea Beavert was recognized for winning the Washington State Family Career and Community Leaders of America competition. She will compete this summer at the National competition in Florida.

Our joint powwow with Tacoma Community College was a huge success. Wilson High School students Alyssa Frias and Hannah Medford (left photo) volunteered and danced at the powwow. Mt. Tahoma student Michael Mahler (middle photo) volunteered at the event as the fry bread cook, and Native American seniors (right photo) were honored along with TCC graduates.
