Early Learning Programs

Do you have a 3 or 4 year old?  Then we have a preschool program for you!

Tacoma Public Schools is committed to early learning and we offer five preschool programs at 32 locations throughout the district. Each program is unique while providing common curriculum that helps prepare students for success in kindergarten and beyond.​​


DressUp PreK.jpgWillard Early Learning Center

Tacoma Public Schools’ first early learning center is a centralized hub of academic development and intervention services to support families with preschool-aged children. Willard offers both Head Start and ECEAP preschool programs.  All Tacoma Public School early learning programs use research based curriculum with the goal of assuring students have the skills they need for success in kindergarten. Parents and guardians are encouraged to take part in monthly parent meetings and volunteer in the class room. Located at 3201 S. D St, Tacoma, WA 98418

This four-day summer program is designed to help incoming kindergarten students feel confident and ready for success in school.  Students have a chance to get familiar with their school and classroom and get to know their classmates and teacher before school officially starts. 


  • For incoming Kindergarteners
  • August 17 – 20, 2015
  • 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Enroll your child at their school (not all locations have a Jump Start program, contact your school for details.)

In addition to preschool Willard offers a number of programs FREE to ALL Tacoma Public Schools families. These comprehensive screening and intervention programs help ensure all children receive the support they need to be successful in school.


Birth to Three is a comprehensive programs with coordinators available to assist all Tacoma Public School families who have concerns about their infant or toddler’s development. For more information contact Willard Early Learning Center at 253-571-2620.

ChildFind offers free screening for vision, hearing, motor coordination, language, learning and behavior skills for pre-school aged children with a suspected disability. For more information contact Willard Early Learning Center at 253-571-2620.

CCDHL (Center for Childhood Deafness & Hearing Loss) offers educational support and professional development services for educators serving children who are deaf or hard of hearing. For more information contact Willard Early Learning Center at 253-571-2620.
