Mason Middle School

The largest middle school in Tacoma, Mason was the first school in the district to require uniforms. The environment Mason has created is that students have a special job and that job is to learn. Because Mason parents value education and care about the success of their children, so do their children.

Parking Message

This year for student safety, the Mason Middle School parking lot has been locked and is accessible only to employees during school hours. Two accessible parking spaces are located just outside the main entrance to the building. 5th to 6th Grade Transition

Tacoma School District is the proud recipient of a grant provided by the RAIKES Foundation to support students and families in the transition from 5th to 6th grade in the Mason/Truman region. The RAIKES Foundation is dedicated to the belief that regular participation in high quality programs leads to better personal, social and academic outcomes and higher self-esteem. http://raikesfoundation.org

The focus of the grant for the 2011-12 school year will include:

Implementation of the AVID program in 5th and 6th grades OVERVIEW OF AVID
Strong collaboration between teachers in the Mason/Truman regions
Increased communication with families about successful transition to middle school
