Skyline Elementary School

Skyline Elementary's special programs include classes for multi-handicapped, orthopedically-impaired students, and kindergarten through fifth grade integrated model. Skyline is the receiving school for the third, fourth, and fifth grade JAWS program for highly capable students. Skyline offers an integrated preschool program with tuition-based community enrollment.


 5th to 6th Grade Transition


Tacoma School District is the proud recipient of a grant provided by the RAIKES Foundation to support  students and families in the transition from 5th to 6th grade in the Mason/Truman region. The RAIKES Foundation is dedicated to the belief that regular participation in high quality programs leads to better personal, social and academic outcomes and higher self-esteem.

The focus of the grant for the 2011-12 school year will include:

  • Implementation of the AVID program in 5th and 6th grades  OVERVIEW OF AVID
  • Strong collaboration between teachers  in the Mason/Truman regions
  • Increased communication with families about successful transition to middle school
